“Travel Makes One Modest. You See What a Tiny Space you Occupy in the World.”

-Gustav Flaubert

My husband Andrew was born and raised in Australia. From the time he was very young, he dreamed of traveling the world and meeting new people and seeing new things. He dreamt of becoming an airline pilot one day, and developed a love for seeing and experiencing the world as a result of  several international trips he took s a teenager.  Later  as a young single accountant, he moved to Prague and lived there for 3 years. Moving to the USA after that, he worked on the East Coast for a couple years before returning to Australia to recalculate. Finally he decided to take one final move abroad for a few years and then return to Australia indefinitely to settle down, find someone to marry, and start a family.  That final move abroad turned out to be the Silicon Valley in California, where I was raised and living. (I also had the “travel bug”, but hadn’t spent much time outside of the country at all.)  We met the first weekend he was in California, and the rest, as they say is history.  Fast forward to 20 pus years later, Andrew is a dual citizen, and all 8 of our kids are too. We both still love to travel, build memories together as a couple, and also with our family. Andrew is now the Chief Commercial Officer for Alaska Airlines, a fortune 500 Airline based in Seattle, WA. We use those airline perks, as often as we can!  Without them, we wouldn’t really get the opportunities we have today- especially for a family our size.  We’re so grateful to have the ability to experience all that we do through such an amazing company that prides itself on safety and customer service. We’re eternally thankful for an airline that took a chance on an accountant from Australia who had zero experience in the airline industry. We definitely relish the many opportunities we have to indulge in the endless ocean of travel, and the precious memories our family has as a result of these priceless trips. In the words of Chief Seattle, our goal is to “Take only memories, leave only footprints.”
